CHAPTER 26: AM I A MOTHER?
© Cupideros, Sunday, April 26, 2009
Queen Morah held Lord Tweezer’s rough hand. Solid hand. A hand not shook by any of these events. She still had to be careful with the long train and all dragging over the green lawn. The walk reminded her of the lone honeybee she saw dutifully gathering his packs of pollen from roses to blue daisies, chrysanthemums and white tulip to tulip. I too must answer the call of nature. What nature? The nature to rule a people not even graced enough to make the Last Prophet’s 3,500 sayings. A nature to kill my own child after giving birth to her or him. I am such a devious and good liar. Everyone believes I can give up my child. What would the social community organizations think about such bastardly behavior from their Queen? How can I with a straight face tell any girl, boys are not important when I’ve decided destroy my own child? Am I a Mother? The Order of the Golden Rose will reject me for sure. Our great work, decades in the building now, decimate. Quodarians will need our secret army of women to finish this eternal war. Why Last Prophet CE is there no wisdom left for my people and me? I cannot give up my flesh and blood. I am a mother female and free scientific one as well!
Lord Tweezer decided to break the ice, as they were halfway to the castle. “I’m going to carry you over the threshold.” He flashed a half smile. His starch white military uniform seem so apt. This wedding turned out to be an assassination and a funeral of his best friend and his child. “I’m not going to kill our child.”
“What!”
“I’ll stop this insane war before I see our child die.”
Queen Morah laughed with relief. “We haven’t even made the child yet? Would you risk all for child?”
“A boy child, yes?”
“Not for a girl child?”
“What can a girl child do in Galen society!”
“Is this the Quodarian’s fault?” Queen Morah grew angry. She stepped purposely on Lord Tweezer’s toes for she knew men like him did not listen to their women.
“Did your long train give you a misstep?” He looked behind her.
Queen Morah blushed because her tush was larger than usually with the train attached. “Yes. I’m sorry. I’ll be okay. We will keep the girl child?”
“Why do you assume the child will be a girl?” Lord Tweezer asked annoyed. “Is there some hidden herbs you will be taken to influence this? Will we be mating with you on top?”
“On top suits me and just happens to make having a girl child easier.” She laughed. “What does it matter. You see all women and girls as generic. I’m a nobody to you, a body. “ They approached the door to the castle. Lord Tweezer opened it.
He watched her pick up her train and go in. Her finger brushed his holding the door. To Lord Tweezer even though she showed a somber mood, she still glowed with beauty.
