CHAPTER 2: QUEEN MORAH
"Perhaps, it is all a ploy, Lady Lomara," said Queen Morah as she walked in her throne room surveying electronic world maps on the far wall. She had a far away look on her face. Her body was strong, tall and built like an Amazon warrior. She even had long red hair.
Lomara came closer. "No milady the reports are true. We've lost several thousands to the coastal storms. Several thousands to the flash burning as the sun fluctuates out of control, cool one day and three times hotter the next. Our sunscreens are useless."
"I meant, what if someone wanted to use this as a ruse, to distract us." She glanced to Lady Lomara. "The woman does take on the burden of marriage preparations. The cost. The preparation. Maybe--"
Jaine Jurdak entered. "I am at your service, cousin."
"Ah!" Queen Morah said, her mood brightening. "My dear cousin. How's the Quoardians Security Agency been doing? Any news?"
The woman walked over. Her short straight black hair fell around her face in an oval. She had a radiant yellow skin. Her almond shaped eyes looked youthful. She was 40 years old but looked 30 and very young. "Sit down Cousin Morah. I've brought the news you sought."
Queen Morah and Lady Lomara sat down near the top of a long wooden conference table. "Oh how I love the feel of natural wood," Queen Morah mused touching the surface.
Jaine focused on Morah's eyes and shook her head puzzled.
"Jaine, I understand they use a lot of metals in Galan. This doesn't prevent us from destroying their cities, but I like the natural materials too." She rubbed the wood again. "Keep this in mind for the marriage and honeymoon arrangements, Lomara."
Lomara said, "Yes."
"There will be no honeymoon arrangements Cousin."
"Outrageous," sounded Lady Lomara. "Typical male neglect."
"Go on," Queen Morah said.
"He doesn't want to marry you, but" and Jaine leaned really close. Then all three heads centered on the oak table leaned closer. "They proposed using a clone too. They believe it will be 99% capable of producing a crossbreed child of sufficient capabilities to cure the Black Hole catastrophe."
"Not ingenious," Queen Morah nodded affirmative, "Why didn't we think of that?"
Lady Lomara said, "Because we are the nurturers of planet Tinion. We don't want any mistakes."
"There's more," Cousin. "The Galans believe they can substitute this clone to a life of forever marriage once the true Lord Tweezer has donated his seed."
"I see," Queen Morah said.
"He thinks he only has to love you true one night." Lady Lomara offered.
"I can see how they would think that?" Jaine said. "But do they know how difficult it is to impregnate a Quoardian?" and she raised a dark black eyebrow.
Lady Lomara looked from eye to eye at them. "I don't think they do."
Queen Morah burst out laughing. "Then we have him."
Jaine nodded, "No clone can keep up the pretense for long. You and our wedding guests and Quoardian priest will have ample opportunity to observe meticulously his movements and habits on the wedding day." She nodded.
"We'll catch them for sure."
Queen Morah said, "Yes we will, Lady Lomara. Yes we will?"
